A 2 hour ride including the Royal National Park.

Today's ride was interesting as to who our guests were.
Ina was originally from South Africa and Michelle was originally from Brazil. They worked with each other and have changed jobs but have remained friends. Both work in the medical profession in Australia one is a dentist and the other a psychologist. I am not saying who does what.

So the meeting point was Waratah Reserve Rawson Avenue what I hadn't realise was how big the area at Waratah Reserve was but as I passed Oval 2, I saw Simon and his Harley next to the cycle track. Seeing and getting there were 2 different things as the side road I was on was a dead end. As I turned to get back to the main, I could see Simon trying to indicate it was him.

Ina and Michelle were ready to go so we just had to fit them with jackets, gloves and helmets.

Ina is ready and Michelle is getting the camera. OK so not that ready to go.
Somewhere there is the starter.
OK, Ina is ready, let's go.
Practicing cornering, ready for the Royal National Park.
Michelle's geared up and ready to roll.
Hanging loose on the Harley.
Jump on Ina and we will leave the 'Old fellas' behind.
Feet are up now let's hit the road.
A good start.
Ina decides to travel with the 'Old Fellas'
From the pick up at Waratah Reserve Rawson Avenue, Sutherland we travelled down the Princes Highway just past Waterfall and took the Old Princes Highway turn off. A mixture of 70, 80 and 100 kph zones.
What a day for a ride. The weather was cool and there was little traffic.
On we travelled past the interchange with the motorway near Helensburg and continued south to Sublime Point overlooking Wollongong and its Northern suburbs.

Sublime Point Lookout.
Most of the view.
Michelle and Ina with Wollongong behind.
The road we will soon be on is down there. Somewhere.
Wollongong and beyond. For another day.
We left Sublime Point behind and at Bulli Tops turned left to descend Bulli Pass to the road home via Wollongong's northern suburbs and beaches.

I had never seen the traffic so light and we were soon at the Seacliff Bridge then at Bald Hill lookout.

Someone or someones have stolen Lawrence Hargrave or at least his status from he lookout. How? It would be like stealing a Giant Bowen Mango.

Arrival at Bald Hill Lookout.
Bald Hill Lookout.
Simon and Michelle. Simon has helmet hair.
More helmet hair. Is it a selfie when someone else is photo bombing?
From the lookout we returned through the Royal National Park.

Here's the stats as I was asked and didn't know.
The Royal National Park is a national park in New South Wales, Australia, 29 km south of Sydney CBD. Founded by Sir John Robertson, Acting Premier of New South Wales, and formally proclaimed on 26 April 1879, it is the world's second oldest purposed national park (after Yellowstone in the United States), and the first to use the term "national park". Its original name was National Park, but it was renamed in 1955 after Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia passed by in the train on the way from Wollongong during her 1954 tour. It could be argued that Royal is the oldest gazetted national park because Yellowstone's original gazetting was "public park or pleasuring ground",
The park was added to the Australian National Heritage List in December, 2006.
Area 150.91 sq kilometres (58.3 sq miles)
National Parks and Wildlife Service (New South Wales) are responsible for the maintaining the park.

Again little traffic and in what Ina though was 15 minutes* we were back at Waratah Reserve and the end of the ride.
* It was actually 45 minutes. Obviously Ina was having fun as time flew for her.

So here's what the trip would look like if you were a cartographer.
