Taking the 'Queen of the Mall' for a look around Sydney

I met Lauren at the 'Visit USA' function and it was decided, as she could talk the same language as the Harley though their accents are different, she could go for a Harley Ride in Sydney when she wasn't working.

Lauren was in Australia promoting Mall of America. Now I thought the local Westfield Shoppingtowns are big but from my research, this is more like a 'shopping city'. Have a look at the website www.mallofamerica.com when you have finished here to see what I mean. Its REALLY BIG!

So Lauren was staying at the little known beach-side suburb of Bondi Beach.
OK, its not so little known.
Me thinks Lauren had planned for some beach time but the best laid plans often go a astray and the weather wasn't being her friend. Instead it was 'Discover Sydney's Eastern Suburb beaches and sights and then cross the bridge and a nice scenic ride back to Bondi Beach'.

The weather forecast was rain and thunderstorms which is not what you want when going for a Harley ride but Lauren was only in Sydney for a short time.

The best way, us we who ride regularly know, to ward off bad weather, pack the wet wear gear.

I arrived at Bondi Beach and being on the Harley, parked almost at the doorway of Lauren's lodgings. Lauren arrived at the appointed hour and we geared her up for the run.

Kym at Trike Trips has a tour called The 6 beaches tour http://triketrips.com.au/the-six-beaches-tour. If Kym can do it in an hour and see all the beaches he is better in the Eastern Suburbs than me.
Well actually Kym is better getting around the Eastern Suburbs than me cause I always get lost in what I can only describe as an oversize rabbit warren.

So Lauren and I took the more scenic route. For, and Lauren didn't know this, I knew only roughly the route we were taking. I think Lauren just thought I like showing her nice houses as we travelled down some back streets. Confusion time, I was looking for a road heading in the right direction.

From Bondi Beach we went to Tamarama Beach, Bronte Beach where Lauren saw a pod of dolphins and I saw the road, Clovelly Beach, Coogee Beach and Maroubra Beach. That's 6 beaches!

That was enough of looking at beaches and being lost, let's look at some history, so we stopped at La Perouse.

At La Perouse we stopped at the Bare Island lookout. Bare Island was used in Mission Impossible 2.

The weather is holding but there is a storm beyond 'the Shire'. Some readers will know why I just sneaked that one in.
Lauren's ready to go.
Not without me.

So its time to check out the bridge. If it was good enough for Oprah Winfrey to climb, its good enough for us to cross. You really great to appreciate the engineering from a motorcycle.

A little trick detour to see the airplanes at the airport. http://goo.gl/maps/P2ENP
So we have arrived and prepared for the classic Sydney photo shoot. Now should we have the windscreen on or windscreen off?
With the windscreen still attached.
  Strike the post Lauren.
How could you come to Sydney and not have a photo with the Bridge and Opera House?
 And here's a different angle.
That's the amusement park called Luna Park in the background.

The engine has started and we are ready to go. Fortunately Lauren asks' "What about the windscreen?" Good question, its still sitting next to the fence. After reattaching the windscreen, we are ready to see the rest of the Sydney sights.

Mrs Macquarie's chair so you see the Opera House and Bridge like the other tourists.
On to Kings Cross, just another suburb during the day.
Then Double Bay (Double Pay to the locals), Rose Bay then the back road back to Bondi Beach.

What a great way to spend the early part of the morning and the bonus, it didn't rain

Now if I have done my job properly, Lauren is going to tell all her friends and relations and acquaintances in Bloomington, Minnesota, (that's where the Mall of America is) what a great time she had and they will ALL come to Australia and see what we have to offer.

Side note: If I go to Sturgis in South Dakota, Lauren told me she would tell what to do there. I wonder if it's like what I did in 2007 and 2008 only newer?
