What to do when the Weather man gets it wrong.

The forecast for the day was showers and as we have learnt from past experiences, the Weather Bureau got it wrong. I also got it wrong as I didn't take a camera.

A glorious day for a ride. Every days a glorious day for a ride but I don't really like getting wet.

The intrepid three met as arranged at the McDonalds Heathcote, NSW

One Kawasaki 1000 GTR, one Harley Davidson Electra Glide 100th Anniversary and one Suzuki GSX. As someone in the group has lost 10 points, the trip stayed below the speed limit.

Heathcote to Appin, then to Douglas Park. Beware the little bridge on the right hand side as you come out of the valley as it is closed to all but pedestrians and motorbikes.

Fortunately, it wasn't on the day's route so we didn't have to debate taking the Harley across the bridge due the weight restrictions.

On to Menagle Road, bypassed Picton on Prince Street, two bridge crossings and
arriving at Thirlmere where they were having a 'train ride day' due the Railway museum. Along the way the lucky leader was the only one to get passed the Goldwing with outrigger or were they trainer wheels between the Thirlmere turnoff and Thirlmere!

At Thirlmere, the mandatory Ulysses (older people have needs) stop at the park but everyone was OK to continue so it was just a leg stretch.

Along the road through Hilltop, on to Mittagong then Bowral and the back way to Berrima. The Garmin didn't miss any turns. Even the phone call I received in Bowral didn't distract him or me.

Berrima was a pie, coffee and chat stop then back the quickest way. Oh dear, I had put my faith in technology and we were directed to the Hume Highway via the vineyards.

At the Hume Highway, the RTA hadn't built the access roads Garmin thought they had or should have! A quick recalculation by the magic box and a lovely back road trip to Mittagong.

We chose not to take the dirt road which was offered along the way as a sign pointing in the opposite direction on the perfectly good sealed road indicated Mittagong.

Back along the freeway and we parted company at Picton Road.

Thanks you to my fellow adventurers for a great day out.
