I attended a charity evening in Bomaderry (near Nowra) NSW back on the 23rd of March 2013 and offered a two hour ride ex Nowra. It became an auction item and Suzanne's friends bought it for her as gift as she had mentioned her bucket list contained a Harley Ride.
So 2 hours down the coast my friend Greg and I travelled to collect Suzanne and help take one item off her bucket list.
Nowra, dear reader is on the Pacific Coast of New South Wales in Australia, south of Sydney and the area is popular for those deciding to make a 'Sea Change' which is what Suzanne has done having lived and worked in the rural town of Forbes as a teacher previously.
At the appointed time we arrived but no Suzanne, it was discovered, the pick up point was the Charity Organiser's house and Suzanne was on her way after getting a call from her boss about something not motorcycle related, if you can believe such conversations exist.
So we decked Suzanne out for the trip.

Where's the starter switch. |
Let's go! |
Our trip took us north through Nowra then east along the coastline road through Coolangatta (Aboriginal for 'splendid view', all I saw were paddocks and trees), Gerroa, Gerringong (Aboriginal word for 'fearful place' which it still is as there is normally a highway patrol presence n the 50 kph zone) back to the highway to Albion Park and through Jamberoo ( Aboriginal word for 'track' I would have said nice windy road) finally our stopping point at Saddleback Mountain lookout. (My word for great view after a huge uphill climb).
Our turn around point. Saddle back Mountain. |
Suzanne had not been here before. |
The view is worth the effort. |
What's where in the view. |
The bush and some scenery beyond. |
Our steads await. BMW K100RS to the left and Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe. |
The home run was down the mountain to just south of Kiama, through the 'Kiama Corners' then Berry, though Nowra and taking Suzanne back to the pick up point.
Home safe of course |
Strike the pose. |
Almost time to say goodbye. |
Suzanne did comment of the well behaved (speed wise) travelling we did along the roads. When one only has one demerit point left, the speed limits are like biblical commandments no longer advisory.
Greg's reward on the way home. Ice Chocolate at the Stanwell Park Cafe. |
A little contrast, hopefully next time in focus or was the mist from my tears of no proper ice coffee, damn you D2! |
So that was another one of Suzanne's bucket list items gone, she did mention a Trike Trip next so she will have to contact Kym at www.triketrips.com.au maybe combine it with a biplane or parachuting.
Equipment : Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe
BMW K100RS
Samsung Galaxy S5.
Finally, the roads we travelled.
The return from Saddleback Mountain. |
