When you are not allowed to ride, take a Road Trip Day 2 of 6.

Day 2 Cowra NSW to Deniliquin NSW.

A country breakfast after a quiet and dark night's sleep.
Sheep don't make that much noise outside your window I discovered and when the lights go out on the property, the lights go out.

"Good morning, who are you?"
The view from the house.
Waiting whilst the gate is closed.

With our farewells done we travelled back to Cowra to the Information Centre. Here, we met Belinda who pointed us to the display about the breakout which occurred during the Second World War.
Details on the area and Tourist office can be found here.
Details on the Breakout can be found here. You can do more research and then visit for yourself.

We had been told of a Castle between Cowra and Young in the middle of nowhere aka Greenethorpe and so we had a look at the building from the road. The property was Iandra Station and Mt. Oiel Homestead.
Details of Iandra - The Castle can be found here.  They do have open days.

The countryside near the Castle.

The next town was Young and we discovered the Fudge shop whilst looking for the Distillery.
That's not the order it normally happens as we missed the turn to the distillery whilst coming into town.

The sign says it all.
Ewan bought the Strawberry Donuts. Yum as well.
I resisted. Just.
Oh, to be years ago, pre D2!
Having helped the local economy or at least the Fudge Shop owner's, we moved on to the Distillery for the adult tastings.

So you know where we were.

Some of the range.
Well named as we are in Young.

As we were driving, the samplings were few and small but we still stocked for future samplings when we returned home at the end of the Road Trip.

Wombat at Wombat. Cute?
After Young we called briefly into Wombat, so briefly we only had 'photo op' time.
No time to rest so we drove through Cootamundra and didn't get a Sir Don Bradman fix.
If you need more information of Cootamundra  click here and Sir Don Bradman's birthplace here.

Our next stop was all about food. Late lunch and a quick look around the Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory. Details of the factory can be found here.
The Factory form the street.
Inside the factory. It's Sunday some no workers in the workrooms.
There is more than Licorice and Chocolate.
One should always follow the directions.
Post lunch we headed for Wagga Wagga to refuel and discovered we have been using 6.4 litres per 100 kilometre (44 miles per [uk] gallon. No bad for a new 2 litre automatic with all wheel drive. I am not allow to call it a four wheel drive.

Our next stop was Narrandera.

Sopwith Camel at Narrandera
Some Sopwith Camel at Narrandera
The world's largest playable guitar.
Unfortunately we were late into Narrandera and could not get to play the world's biggest playable guitar as the Information Centre had closed. Maybe the next time we come through.

The white stuff is cotton. There were kilometres / miles of it on the roadside.
With lengthening shadows. We drove on.

Sunset is upon us and still we drove.
Consumption is looking good it's now 5.6 litres /100 kms. We have already travelled 169 kilometres.
Later a hare would try to join us. Fortunately Ewan was fully alert.

We reached Deniliquin for the overnight and checked into a motel.
We then went across the road and up a bit to the local Bowling Club to discover 'Regional Chinese All you can eat for $20.00' There must have been a lot of MSG in the price as my night was spent drinking glasses of water. Maybe the 'All you can eat' and forks and spoons should have been the sign we were not in Haymarket.

Tomorrow we head further south and enter Victoria.
